The long version is that this stays a small operation on purpose: the same guides and cooks work together climb after climb, porters are hired properly rather than picked up casually at the gate, and growth has never seemed worth doing that differently. What follows is what that looks like in practice.
What we stand for
Tanzanian owned
The money stays here. The guides, cooks and porters are from Arusha and the villages around the mountain.
Porters carry fair loads
Proper gear, proper food, proper pay. A climb that treats the crew badly is not a climb we will run.
Safety is not negotiable
Daily health checks on the mountain. Serious symptoms mean going down, whatever it cost to get up there.
Five percent goes to school
A share of every trip funds schooling in a local village. Ask Baraka about it, he will tell you more than this page can.
