Standard Safari Itinerary

Our most booked safari: a balanced week through Tanzania's best-known parks.

Day 1

Arrival Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

Accommodation: Leisure Safari Lodge. BB

Met upon your arrival in JRO; and transfer to Hotel in Arusha.

Day 2

Arusha / Tarangire National Park

Estimated driving distance: 2.5hrs drive · Activities: Game drives · Accommodation & Meals: Tarangire Safari Tented Lodge, B, L, D

Today, after breakfast, we drive to Tarangire National Park with picnic lunch; the park is renowned for its large elephant population. Game drives in the park.

Day 3

Tarangire / Ngorongoro

Estimated driving distance: 2.5hrs drive · Activities: Game drives · Accommodation & Meals: Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge, B, L, D

Another game drive safari in Tarangire; then later in the day we drive to overnight in Ngorongoro.

Day 4

Ngorongoro / Serengeti

Estimated driving distance: 3hrs drive · Activities: Game drives · Accommodation & Meals: Seronera Wildlife Lodge, B, L, D

Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for game drives in the Crater, exploring the short-grass plains of the crater floor. This extinct volcano embraces 100sq miles alive with lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, and many more games. Later in the day we drive to overnight in Serengeti.

Day 5

Serengeti

Activities: Game drives · Accommodation & Meals: Seronera Wildlife Lodge (in July ~ November we stay at Lobo Wildlife Lodge, while in May and June, we stay at Mbalageti Camp (standard room), B, L, D

Game drives safari in the Serengeti exploring the rolling plains of Serengeti National Park in search of the large predators and the gentle herbivores on which they feed.

Day 6

Serengeti / Lake Manyara

Estimated driving distance: 3hrs drive · Activities: Game drives · Accommodation & Meals: Lake Manyara Hotel B, L, D

After breakfast, we will have another game drive in Serengeti, then drive to overnight in Lake Manyara with an optional visit to a Masai Village ($60/group), and optional visit of Olduvai Gorge ($20/person).

Day 7

Lake Manyara / Kilimanjaro / Departure

Estimated driving distance: 2hrs to Arusha, plus 45 min. to JRO · Activities: Game drives · Accommodation & Meals: B, L

Game drives safari in Lake Manyara; home to tree-climbing lion, colorful birds, elephant and hippo. We will leave in the afternoon for Kilimanjaro airport for our flight back home [optional day room in Arusha is available for extra $$/room].
