Pricing and planning
We quote every trip individually rather than publishing a price list. Here is what that price actually depends on, so you can see where you would land before you ask.
Pole pole.Slowly, slowly.
We are asked what a trip costs before anything else, and the honest answer is that it depends on a handful of things you control. Rather than publish a headline price that leaves half of it out, here is what actually moves the number, so you can work out roughly where you would sit before you ask for a quote.
What a quote depends on
Five things move the number more than anything else. Tell Baraka where you sit on each and the quote comes back quickly.
Route and number of days
The single biggest factor on the mountain. Every extra day is another day of park fees, food and crew wages, which is also exactly why the longer routes get more people to the top.
How many of you
Guides, cooks and vehicles are shared across your party, so the cost per person falls as the group grows. Solo travellers pay the most per head; this is true of every operator, and we would rather say so.
When you come
The dry windows are busier and lodges cost more in them. Shoulder season is cheaper and quieter, at the price of a higher chance of rain.
Where you sleep on safari
Camping, mid-range lodges or the better tented camps. This is the widest range of all on a safari, and the easiest place to adjust a quote up or down.
What you add on
A safari after the climb, days on Zanzibar, a balloon flight, extra nights in Arusha. Each is priced separately so you can see what it costs before deciding.
What is always in there
Park and rescue fees, your guides and crew, camping or hut fees, meals on the mountain, and transfers. Every quote lists what is included and what is not, per trip.
Why there is no price list
A number without a plan is not useful
A headline price for "7 days Machame" tells you nothing about how many guides come, what you eat, or where you sleep. Two trips with the same name can be very different trips.
The cheap number is usually not the real one
Advertised prices in this industry tend to leave things out that reappear later. We would rather send you one written figure that covers what it says it covers.
It is quicker than it sounds
Baraka answers himself, usually within a few hours. A quote costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
You can compare it properly
Take our written quote to anyone else and put the inclusion lists side by side. That is the only honest comparison there is.
Ask for a quote
Rough dates and a rough idea of the group are enough to start. Free, in writing, no obligation.
