Baraka Dalali, founder and licensed Kilimanjaro guide, on the trail with Kilimanjaro behind him

Pole pole. Slowly, slowly.

You will be dealing with Baraka.

He started on Kilimanjaro as a porter and worked his way up to licensed guide, and he still answers every message himself. Some climbers come for the challenge, some to mark something bigger. Whatever brought you here, his Tanzanian crew know the mountain like their own backyard, and set the pace either way.

From summit to sea.

Lemosho over eight days, for most first-time climbers. The extra day is what gets people to the top. Ask Baraka and he will match a route to the days you have.

If you can walk all day in the hills and go again the next morning, you are fit enough. It is a long walk, not a technical climb, and altitude is what turns people back, not gradient.

Guides are certified in Wilderness First Response, first aid and CPR, and licensed by KINAPA. They check how you are eating, drinking and sleeping every day. Serious symptoms mean going down, and that is never negotiable.

After. You will be tired in a way that is hard to explain, and a safari vehicle is a good place to be tired in.

January to mid-March, or June to October. Those are the driest windows for the mountain and the parks alike.
